Donna Brodie, the executive director of The Writers Room since 1994, has 18 years experience as a fundraiser, program director and administrator with several New York City non-profits.
She served as a development associate at the Church of the Holy Apostles and the Holy Apostles Soup kitchen from 1991 to 1994. Prior she was a development program associate at the International Center of Photography; from 1989 to 1991.
At The Writers Room she was the part-time assistant director from 1988 to 1991. For five years, she was a trustee of The Cooper Square Mutual Housing Association, a not-for-profit housing management company in NYC's East Village, where she has lived since 1979.
Donna is the former treasurer of the Robert Miller Fund for Music, a private foundation for the advancement of new classical music composition and performance. Born and raised in the Big Apple, she studied English Lit and Theater at the City College of New York. |

Elizabeth Sherman

Elizabeth "Liz"
Sherman has been with The Writers Room, in a variety of capacities,
since 1997. A working theater professional, Elizabeth was on the
board for Developing Artists Theater Company (2002-2004). For
the past two years, she has been a "mentor" artist for the acclaimed
children's theater program, the 52nd Street Project. Her plays
have been read at The Public Theater and she has performed in
landmark productions of Jesus Hopped The A Train, Our Lady of 121st Street and Little Flower of East Orange.
Elizabeth has a BA from Kean University and a MFA from the New School for Social Research. |

Vilma Torres
Facilities Manager |
Vilma Torres,
facilities manager, has been in charge of maintaining The Writers
Room's physical plant since April 2003.
For the past 20 years, Vilma has worked in a variety of construction
projects, including electrical work, painting, demolition and
repair for private and corporate clients. |
